poem Werewolf (Poetry)

I am attempting to put my poetry here, since it relates to this Forum a bit. I'm hoping that somebody will enjoy it, appreciate it, or maybe even read it.  This is my first try at writing a sonnet.

Werewolf

 

Do I sympathize with you for the fact

That your adultery led to divorce,

Rejection, breaking into your old house?

Or do I summon those nameless victims

As a test to your ravenous hunger,

All the conviction attached to your name?

 

Do I express gratitude for the fact

That you alone pushed me to face wild fears,

Encouraged dramatic transformation?

Or, in the gleam of your eyes, light laughter,

Does your effort reveal the challenge of

A novel prey, a mouse trembling in grass?

 

You will pounce upon me, tear me apart,

But innocence was never your last meal.
