NEWS: Discord Server & Clubs (aka Groups) are back!   08/19/17

Hello everyone I'm back with a couple big updates! Firstly we now have a Discord server, this is a real-time chat messaging client you can run on your phone, desktop, or anywhere. It's a pretty powerful desktop application that enables people to chat together, and with multiple channels you can find people interested in what you're interested in. If you don't already have a Discord account it's pretty easy to get one, just click the following invite link to get started: https://discord.gg/U93PYnB Secondly I'm proud to announce the return of Groups, it's been renamed to Clubs and is now available here: https://muscle-growth.org/clubs/. This system is entirely user generated and allows users to create groups of their own based on any subject they want. Go ahead and try it now, visit the link above to get started if you want to create or join a group!   As always thank you to all of our donators and Patreon contributors who keep the forums going!

  • What are your interests?
I'm not muscular myself, but hoping to get more toned and add some size. Fan of bodybuilding as a sport.I attend a lot of local bodybuilding contests as a spectator. I go to 5-10 shows a year, everything from small local natural contests up through the Olympia in Vegas.

    5'9, about 175.
  • What are you seeking?
Enjoy chatting about bodybuilding as a sport, especially at the professional level. Would love to hear from other people who follow bodybuilding news and have favorite pros. Of course, it's fine too if you "just like big muscles."

  2. Mr. Olympia Weekend

I think it's gonna be another boring show... Phil and Flex. Not that they don't deserve it, but the sport would be more interesting if there was more turnover. Maybe I'm in for a pleasant surprise in a few hours.

It's time for the Big O! Anyone heading to Las Vegas (or already there) for the big event? I'm heading out there on Friday. You'll be able to stream a lot of the competitions live on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/adlp/olympia2017
  4. First time you saw huge muscle!!

What an amazing sight - I'm jealous! Branch does one-arm curls with more weight than I bench, so I would never worry about competing for anything.
  5. First time you saw huge muscle!!

You're not going to believe this... I don't know if you remember "Tower," aka Steve Henneberry, but I watched him compete in a bodybuilding contest today in Riverside California. He still looks great!
  6. First time you saw huge muscle!!

Thanks for making me feel old. But I can tell you, even in college I thought they were pretty hot. I think Laser was my favorite.

  8. MUSCLES - what got you started?

    Mmmmmm... tell us more!
  9. First time you saw huge muscle!!

Imagine growing up in the 70s, not quite hitting puberty yet, and seeing this on TV. How could you NOT be fascinated by muscles after watching him flex?! (stay with the clip at least a minute - his manager starts oiling him up. Woof!)
  10. First time you saw huge muscle!!

I loved watching TV wrestling as a kid. Even before I actually got aroused by some of the big musclemen, I knew I liked watching them flex and show off their power. There were also a lot of great muscle ads in comic books in those day - once I got old enough I spent many nights fantasizing looking at those. In terms of seeing real life muscle, I'm not sure what my very first true real-life bodybuilder sighting was. I remember going to Universal Studios on vacation and going to their live-action Conan show. There was a ripped guy playing Conan on stage which was pretty hot. As a souvenir I asked for a book of postcards because one of them had a photo of Conan. This was the promotional image from Universal, and the postcard I enjoyed for quite a while:
  11. 2017 NPC San Diego

  12. I just finished going through the schedule of all the bodybuilding competitions in Southern California this year. I counted 35 separate events! This includes NPC and natural shows in Los Angeles and San Diego. If you are a fan of bodybuilding/bodybuilders, you really do need to move out here! I would go broke if I went to all of them, but I'll try to get to maybe 8-10 if I'm lucky. I'll share pics. If anyone in the area is competing in any of these shows, let me know and I'll be sure to cheer you on!
  13. Old timie TV WRESTLERS

This was an introduction to Hulk Hogan in 1979. I remember watching this when it originally aired. I was 11 years old, and I was just amazed. First of all, I couldn't believe the bulge. Then seeing the bizarre but sexy hair trim. And then of course the flexing. I could not believe the size of this man! I was an instant fan. (By the way, why is this in the off-topic section? Seems pretty muscle-related to me!)
  14. Old timie TV WRESTLERS

Well I'm not sure I'd call these from the "early days of TV wrestling" (since it's been going on since the 50s) but the late 70s-early 80s were when I went through puberty and seeing these muscular men on TV sure helped me out a lot.
